CRIMSON BANDED WRASSE

Page history last edited by lclarke@... 7 mos ago

The crimson banded wrasse is a very interesting fish because when a male wrasse dies the female turns into a male. The male is bluish grey and crimson with yellow fins but the female is orange with white spots.

It  grows to about 30 cm long and is found around rocky places and in kelp. They normally live about 2m to 30m deep.

At Jervis Bay I saw two of these.

They are one of the most interesting fish ever.

They eat crustaceans and mussels.
