The silver drummer is a fairly large fish. It is silver in colour with a black tail.

It can grow up to 80 cm long.

It is usually found in kelp or rocky reef, at 2 to 20m deep. 

It lives in large schools of a silver drummer, luderick and bream mix.

The silver drummer is a herbivore, eating only plants like kelp and algae.
