The Yellow-finned leatherjacket is the same shape as a pointed football.

It's about thirty-three centimeters long.

It is a pale grey to dark brown colour. The fish feels smooth to velvety.

The fish live near the rocks and the open water.

It lives in protected reefs in coastal bays in NSW and rocky reefs.

It moves by using its fins. It lives by itself and is very territorial when eating.

It eats spongers, crustaceans and molluscs.

.

When threatened it does a bluffing dance.
